WASHINGTON (TND) — Fans of "The Office" may have a reason to be excited about a new mockumentary series but it won't be set in beloved Scranton, Pennsylvania.
It has been over a decade since the sitcom aired its final episode and now Greg Daniels has something else up his sleeve.
Daniels has joined forces with "Nathan for You" co-creator Michael Koman to bring the untitled project to Peacock.
So what is the series about?
"The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is in search of a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters," Peacock said in a news release.
Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore, from "The White Lotus" season 2, are set to lead the new series which plans to begin production in July.
Fan favorites Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant are also along for the ride as executive producers.
Jenna Fischer, who played Pam Beesly in the original nine seasons, told People in April that Daniels and Koman were "working on" a new spinoff series that she hadn't "been approached about."
"I don't know a lot of details, but I'm not involved," she said.
Daniels told E! News "It would be fun to find some lost episodes and shoot them as if they were back in 2010 or something."
"The Office" has seen a resurgence after the sitcom moved to Peacock in 2021.
