Dennis Quaid Boards Taylor Sheridan Series Bass Reeves On Paramount+

Quaid will appear alongside series lead and executive producer David Oyelowo.

Emmy and Golden Globe Award nominee Dennis Quaid has signed on to Taylor Sheridan's forthcoming Paramount+ Original series Bass Reeves. 

Bass Reeves will bring the titular legendary lawman of the Wild West to life. Reeves (David Oyelowo) was known as the greatest frontier hero in American history. Reeves worked in the post-Reconstruction era as a federal peace officer in the Indian Territory, capturing over 3,000 of the most dangerous criminals without ever being wounded.

Quaid will play Sherrill Lynn, a Deputy U.S. Marshall.

Lauren E. Banks, Forrest Goodluck, and Grantham Coleman will also join the series.  

Banks will play Jennie, the strong and fiercely loyal wife of Bass Reeves, and Goodluck will play Billy Crow, a young Cherokee man with an affinity for dime store books and gaudy style. 

Coleman plays Edwin Jones, an extremely persuasive man who has a clear vision and a promise for the future to those who will listen.

Garrett Montgomery has joined in a recurring role, playing a so-called posse man of the era who Bass hires for his riding know-how and expertise of the area. 

Joaquina Kalukango, Lonnie Chavis, Rob Morgan, Ryan O’Nan, Justin Hurtt-Dunkley, Dale Dickey, Mo Brings Plenty, Tosin Morohunfola, and Margot Bingham have also signed onto the series. 

Kalukango will play Esme, a former enslaved woman who is as good as family with the Reeves’ and also has some different ideas about the future.

Chavis will play Arthur Mayberry, a sweet young boy with eyes for the Reeves’ daughter Sally.  

Morgan will play Ramsey, a once-strong man who has been broken by time.

O’Nan will play Darrell Dolliver, one of the two Dolliver outlaws Bass is tasked with tracking down and bringing to justice.

Hurtt-Dunkley will play Ike, a deputy U.S. marshal.

Dickey will play Widow Dolliver, an old woman who has seen it all, and who does not waste time suffering fools.

Brings Plenty will play Minco Dodge, a Choctaw Native American and friend to Bass Reeves.

Morohunfola will play Jackson “Jackrabbit” Cole, a former Union soldier turned prisoner that rides along with Bass Reeves.

And, Bingham will play Sara Jumper, a black Seminole Native American whom Bass will owe a debt of gratitude toward.

Bass Reeves is currently filming in Texas.

In addition to Oyelowo, executive producers on the project include Taylor Sheridan, Chad Feehan, David C. Glasser, Jessica Oyelowo, David Permut, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, and David Hutkin.

Bass Reeves is the latest addition to Sheridan's growing slate on Paramount+ which includes Mayor of Kingstown, 1923, Tulsa King, and 1883, as well as the upcoming series Land Man and Special Ops: Lioness.
